MASTER OF THE AIR - WOLFGANG KLAPPER

“The best way to observe a fish is to become a fish”
, Jacques Cousteau
How true is this when it comes to underwater video and photography? The answer seems obvious, but doing it is a whole other challenge.
Why are we discussing buoyancy in this workshop? You are certainly experienced divers, knowing perfectly how to weigh yourself and adjust your equipment to feel balanced in the water. We suggest going a step further, focusing more on fine-tuning and the key element of buoyancy: breathing and breath control. If you can control and adapt your breathing patterns to different situations and circumstances, your approach to underwater photography and video will be permanently transformed: for the better.
Because it’s essential to become one with your equipment and your environment to use your full potential underwater., we work individually with each of you to enhance your skills in these specific areas.
Why is focusing on your breathing techniques essential for capturing underwater videos and photos?
By controlling and maintaining the correct breathing technique at all times, you not only improve your performance as a diver but also as a photographer or filmmaker:
- • Saving air = longer dives = + opportunities for encounters with aquatic fauna
- • Total control of your movements = + stability for your shots
- • Master your ability to change depth in an instant = position yourself at eye level
- • Avoid unnecessary bubbles = become a fish for the fish
From brain to lungs.
- • Mental preparation
- • Air consumption
- • Breath holding
- • Focusing
- • Control of movement
